What is Softaculous?

Softaculous is a software auto installer for cPanel that can install scripts and PHP classes. It is fast, well-designed, and widely used in the Web Hosting industry as it helps install applications with the click of a button.

How Do I Access Softaculous?

You will first need to log in to your cPanel. To gain access to this, either log in directly through chi.midphase.com or from your browser by typing in http://yourdomain.com/cpanel

Once you gain access to your cPanel, you will then navigate to the Software section and click on “Softaculous Apps Installer” as detailed in this image here. Keep in mind that your cPanel layout may look different due to the cPanel version being used in your account, but it should retain the same method for getting to it.

How do I use Softaculous?

You will need to determine which software you would like to install on your site. You can pick from any category of script that you want to install.  In this case, we will pick WordPress.

Step 1: Click on the install button in the WordPress box

Alternatively, you can find the WordPress install on the left-hand side under the ‘Blogs’ section

Step 2: Once you have done this, it will ask you to enter a few of the site configurations.  

This information can include which directory you would like the installation placed, the website name, and admin login details. We recommend using a different username than admin for your Admin account for added account security. After filling these details in, click Install at the bottom of the page and everything will then be installed automatically for you.
